For more than 30 years Tom has provided legal and business counsel to emerging technology companies, as well as established and mid-size businesses (both private and public) in many fields, including the environmental services area. Specialty areas of Tom's practice include start-ups and business formation; shareholder and incentive compensation arrangements; financing and investment arrangements; intellectual property protection and complex licensing arrangements; distribution and OEM agreements; strategic business alliances, joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, including government funded SBIR and CRADA arrangements and sales. Due to his extraordinary experience and creativity, Tom's clients regard him not only as their lawyer but as a critical part of their business team.
Prior to founding Archstone Law Group, Tom was a founder of Van Wert, Zimmer, & Conlin in 1990. Before that he was Vice President and General Counsel of a leading environmental, engineering and remediation company. Earlier, Tom was Assistant General Counsel of the Communications Satellite Corporation in Washington, D.C., and also served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps. Tom graduated from the University of Illinois with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Liberal Arts. He then graduated from The George Washington University Law School with honors and where he was an editor of the Law Review. During the winter months, Tom resides in Tucson, Arizona where he uses the latest technology to continue to serve his clients.
